h0\/\/ d0 1 h4<k?

Well this is for all who ask the same question. "How do I hack" A quite simple question, but with a very complicated answer. This is my attempt at the answer. The "you" is anyone asking.

No offence, but simply by asking this, you dont have what it takes to be a hacker. There is no "Step by step hacking tutorial", you have to be your own teacher. I am completly self taught, and belive me, when it clicks, its wonderful. Anyway, Im not telling you not to ask questions, questions are great, but dont ask for a step by step hacking tut.

I dont know why Im doing this, but here is a link to help you get started.

The title "How to become a hacker" is misleading, but it offers some good info.

http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/hacker-howto.html

And, here are some other things to learn.....

1. Learn about hardware - basicly how your computer works.

2. Learn about different types of software.

3. Learn your command line.

4. Learn how to make a few batch files.

5. Port scanning. ( download blues port scanner if it's your first time)

6. Learn a few programming languages
HTML,C/C++,Perl.... (i'd recommend learning Python as your first lang)

7. How to secure yourself (proxy, etc)

8. FTP and telnet

9. Your protocols TCP/IP , UDP , SMTP, etc

10. Get your hands dirty with networking

And above all, you must be smart and determined. Im not talking genius smart, but you know what I mean. Hacking, If your determined, will consume your social life. I dont know if thats a problem for you, but if you really get into it, you will be spending ATLEAST 3 to 4 hours a day on the computer. Well, thats all, and good luck. If you have what it takes, you will achive your goal. There will be times when you just want to take a machine gun to your computer, but hang in there.

Hack the planet!

Thank you.

/end transmission

1.read everything at www.happyhacker.org
(that covers almost everything

2.learn how to program (c++ is my personal favorite.

you seem awfully anxious to release the fury of admin there, kryptn 0_o

anyway what is the point of this thread? i understand you're trying to be helpful but, all you did was pretty much sum up the contents of the h4ndb00k, which is what brought most everyone here to begin with..

Hey, I loved your book and I love your site. Im just giving a little help. Its pretty arrogant for you to think that your book is the *only* source of hacking matierial.

worm, i havent even thought about banning someone. i just saw the the title and immediatly thought something else was in it.

anyway, what makes you think that worm thinks that the h4ndb00k is the only source of hacking material? (does that even make sense?)

all i'm saying is everything you mentioned in your thread (including the link to catb.org) is nothing more than a really short description of things described in my book. this site is not advertised anywhere that doesn't relate to the book. so i don't see how it's of any help to anyone visiting this site.

in fact, i'd compare the helpfulness of your post to the following.

how to lose weight:
1. learn about health and food
2. explore different diets and which is best for you
3. stop eating mcdonalds
4. exercise
5. talk to your doctor
6. motivate yourself

yea sure it's all good and true advice but does that really help anyone? no. my apologies if you think i'm being arrogant.

no, i'm sorry. the last thing i want to do is discourage anyone from volunteering help. i sincerely apologize.

to explain myself, it's just, the registration page says not to ask how-to-hack questions. why? because it's annoying, and you can go to www.jinx.com for that crap. and here i find this thread, answering the question even though it wasn't asked. my initial thought is "great, a loophole to the rules" because in my mind it's the same thing. but then i'm anal.

seriously though if you guys really want a section where you can ask how-to-hack questions to your hearts desire because you think it would be helpful then let me know. the whole point of this site is to help, after all.

if you want to make a forum specifically for hacking, then go for it. its your site worm.

i have a link to icv on my site, but not many people go to my site. (google kryptn and you can get it though)

damn. for some reason the source page on my server doesnt work anymore.

Yeah, a how-to-hack type of section may be needed. I'd make it beginner oriented. "I want to know how to be leet with ____/I'm new to hacking, where do I go?" I think a section like that would be great, as long as it isn't "hey guyz i 1 2 no how 2 hak my gf's scren naem!!1", or anything resembling it (such as other topics we've burned down).

I've got it - an introduction page upon sign up that they must choose.

"Are you a n00b? Select one of the option buttons below:

a. Yes, I am a n00b, send me to the how do I hack board

b. No, I am not going to ask how to hack. If I ever do, you can ban me"

thats sounds even better the way reno worded it. a n00b's forum, or an educated forum on the main reason we found worm's book. (or both :)

i actually fully support it cuz i like the idea. anyway, it could be fun reading some of the stupid questions.

are we sure that there should be a section just like reno described?

i think so. we could ask all hacking questions (if we had them) in there, and maybe get a reply. but there should probably be more monitoring because theres a thin line between good and bad questions.

Even useful discussions can come from pointless threads... Not the hacking crap you guys are on about, i'm talkin about the real gold hidden here..

I followed worm's advice and lost incredible ammounts of weight! Amazing!!

If we had it my way, there'd be a number of topics. I'll lay them out for you here:

1) General Topic (basically, the inbox).
2) Beginners
3) Hardware (specs, building pc's, gadgets, hack projects, etc.)
4) Programming (web, software, hacking, etc.)
5) Networking (technologies, hardware, linux/windows, etc.)
6) Security (all of the above, including physical and digital security)
7) Debates (free-for-all)
8) World Affairs ('paul revere' your issue here, or submit information for the rest of us.)
9) Arty stuff (for discussing and showing off flash, photoshop, music etc.)

...among a few others, perhaps a gaming section. Wormsy is mainly keeping from doing this for aesthetic purposes with the menu, so we'd have to figure something out that'd make everyone happy.

1. general
2. computer related
3. debate
4. arty

but with even that much, if you start a thread in the wrong forum it gets annoying. if anything:

1. general (includes computers)
2. beginner
3. debate (sometimes it gets too big on the inbox.)
4. artsy (like reno's idea, except with programming)

i consider programming an art of some sort. it takes a creative mind to make a program. anyway, i mean like code resources. i really like the idea for a debate forum. i love to argue (depends on the subject)

General topics are pretty much "anything goes." You can start threads about a funny video you found, or talk about a new "whatever" that came out, or whether or not you should buy a cat. Throwing in "computers" with the general topic seriously degrades the impact a website such as this puts on computers themselves. Moreover, "computers" is such a broad, ever-expanding topic that it can be broken down into numerous independently thriving parts, such as the ones I've mentioned. Otherwise, people will have to continue to sift through inconsequential threads to find what they want.

Second, while there is a definite art to programming, programming is certainly not art. There ought to be a place where people can express their creative side, and that would be the place to do it. They can share or discuss their programming endeavors in the programming section.

edit--bl4ckprint, agreed. Thinking something like this would be overwhelming is plain lazy.

Ok worm.. how about a compromise?

How about broad categories for the reasons people come here:

0. Hey I don't know something/I have a question category.

1. Hey I know something/Look at this cool thing category.

2. Misc/Other/Not technology related category.
